Ventura County is currently dealing with regulatory issues about the licensing of compost facilities. An overview of the problems will be discussed. Much of our research activity is focused on the use of greenwaste mulches in orchards. The results of our trials on citrus and avocado will be discussed, as well as a pilot program to use water hyacinth to clean up greenhouse of nitratesand serve as a feedstock for container potting mixes.
